Our relaunched Women's section played the first Wokingham Women's match since 2016

If you would like to join the Women's Cricket section, please simply come to training on a Monday or Thursday at 7PM at the club

Wokingham Women took on Crowthorne & Crown Wood in a Pairs Softball friendly at Sadler's End yesterday evening. Whilst they ended up losing the match, it is worth reflecting how far they have come in such a short time.

Since the interest evening on the 7th June, a squad of approximately 26 players have been training (which only started on the 17th June). This means in just over 5 weeks our side has gone in many cases from beginners to challenging an established side.

Batting first, our Women scored 91 runs and with 9 wickets falling finished on 246 net in the format. In response, Crowthorne scored 78 runs but with only 4 wickets falling finished on 258 net. Thereby winning by 12 runs. We thank Crowthorne & Crown Wood for joining us on this momentous evening.

Plenty of positives to choose from shows the future is bright for Women's Cricket at Wokingham. This is only the start with further friendly fixtures in the works for this Summer as our section grows.

A big congratulations to the players: Hannah, Kirsty, Rashmi, Grace, Sam, Nicola, Jo & Katherine as well as the wider squad for their performances. And a special mention to Steve Hall and Kirsty Ross who have driven this initiative for the club.

If you would like to join the Women's Cricket section, please simply come to training on a Monday or Thursday at 7PM at the club. Membership is frozen this year and thereby free to participate. So with no risk, there is plenty of reward in playing a great sport in good company. You can also sign up on our website.
